From April 27 to 30, 2025, the School of Dentistry at Badya University had the honor of hosting Prof. Robert D. Spears, Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs, and Prof. Sudarat Kiat-amnuay, Director of the International Scholarship Training Program, from the School of Dentistry, University of Texas Health, Houston.
The visit was marked by vibrant academic exchange and student-centered engagement. First-year dental students at Badya University presented three insightful topics: “The Untold Secrets of Your Smile,” “3D Print or Mill: A Denture Debate,” and “Forensic Odontology.” Prof. Spears and Prof. Kiat-amnuay attended the students session, engaged in thoughtful discussion, and commended the presenters for their outstanding performance and depth of research.
In addition to the student presentations, both visiting professors delivered highly anticipated lectures to the entire student body. Prof. Spears spoke on “Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics of the TMJ,” offering a comprehensive exploration of temporomandibular joint dynamics. Prof. Kiat-amnuay followed with a detailed lecture titled “Overview of Clinical Cases and Material Used in Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics,” highlighting real-world clinical applications and advanced materials in the field. The lectures were met with strong interest and active participation from students.
The visit also included key planning sessions. Discussions covered the upcoming student exchange program visit to Houston, along with preparation for future faculty visits to Badya University. Several collaborative research projects were also explored as part of the expanding academic relationship between the two institutions. This visit reaffirmed the School of Dentistry’s dedication to fostering global learning opportunities and elevating the academic experience through international collaboration.
