School of Engineering Dean's Message

My Dear sons and daughters, students of the School of Engineering,

I take the opportunity of the beginning of the academic year 2026-2027 to congratulate all our new male and female students on joining the School of Engineering, and I am pleased to congratulate you in particular on your first academic year, and I commend your choice of the prestigious engineering profession to be the engineers of the future who bear the responsibility of advancing the nation, knowing that you are the descendants of the builders of the pyramids and great civilizations. You are required to follow the path to bring our beloved Egypt to the forefront among the nations of modern civilizations. In your transition from the secondary stage, in which you achieved honorable excellence, to the university stage, in which we wish you continued excellence and advancement, you are going through more than one significant transformation. First, you are moving from a stage characterized by control, supervision, and guidance at home and school in one way or another, to a stage in which you have a greater space of freedom. This freedom must be accompanied by a greater sense of responsibility on your part, so that it may fulfill its intended purpose of developing your creative and innovative abilities, and not God forbid become a path to corruption or loss. Furthermore, as you transition from secondary school to university, you will find that the university’s role is not simply to impart readily available information, as this information is constantly changing at an alarming rate. Rather, the university’s role is to equip you with the skills to research information and adapt it for practical application. The university’s role is not merely to provide you with information, but to equip you with the abilities, skills, and critical thinking necessary to acquire knowledge throughout your long, God willing, successful professional life.

I assure you that you have a golden opportunity to benefit from these transformations and adapt. Your University boasts its professors, who represent the elite of faculty members in Egypt, the Middle East, and even the world – those who have contributed to Egypt and the Arab world with some of the greatest engineering projects and participated in development plans. It is crucial that you benefit from their knowledge and extensive experience. The path to success begins with engaging with professors in lectures, participating in practical training in laboratories, workshops, drawing studios, and exercise sessions, and staying up to date with the latest technologies through computer networks. I also assure you that we are all working to prepare qualified young engineers, each in their respective field, to benefit themselves, their families, and their country.

The School of Engineering has approved five new academic programs that operate on a credit-hour system.

My sons and daughters, the first semester at the University where you are taking your first steps on the path to joining the engineering family provides you with the opportunity to study some basic sciences whose importance you will later learn about in engineering applications. This semester is also an opportunity for you to get to know the different engineering specializations up close so that each of you can choose from these specializations what suits their inclinations and abilities. Therefore, I urge you to seize every opportunity available to you to learn about these specializations, whether in some courses or through the University’s general lectures and seminars aimed at introducing you to the abilities necessary to succeed in a specialization and the conditions of study and work in it. Recognizing the vital role of youth in society, your University is committed to providing you with the necessary resources to develop well-rounded personalities. This includes pursuing advanced engineering studies and participating in diverse activities that align with each individual’s interests. Therefore, I encourage you to explore the various activities available at the University and choose what suits you best. The University club and the student activities building are prime examples – it provides multiple services and activities for students through playgrounds, theaters, seminar halls, cultural and summer camps, scout groups, and public services, in addition to various activities for student families and scientific and technological activities through scientific societies.

My sons and daughters, I pray that God crowns everyone’s efforts with success and that your studies at the University are fruitful, successful, and filled with happy memories.

May God grant you success.

Dr. Eng. Salem M. ElKhodary

Dean of the School of Engineering
