Dr. Alaa Balbaa

Dean, School of Physical Therapy, Badya University

Biography

With a career spanning over two decades, Dr. Alaa Balbaa has shown exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing physical therapy education and practice in Egypt and abroad. Currently serving as the Dean of the School of Physical Therapy at Badya University, Dr. Balbaa previously held the same position at Nahda University since 2019.

During his time as the Dean of the School of Physical Therapy at Cairo University for seven consecutive years, Dr. Balbaa achieved numerous milestones, including securing National Accreditation in 2014 and International Accreditation in 2017, making it the first and only accredited school in Egypt. He led the creation of Egypt’s first Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and played a key role in establishing the physical therapy sector of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities.

Dr. Balbaa received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physical Therapy from Cairo University. He later earned a PhD in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University, USA. With licenses to practice in both Egypt and the USA, Dr. Balbaa brings extensive expertise to his profession.

Beyond academia, Dr. Balbaa serves as a consultant and Rehabilitation Director at Neuro Espitalia Hospital and Al Mehwar Hospital, where he continues to contribute his expertise to the field of physical therapy.

Dr. Balbaa’s commitment to advancing physical therapy education, his extensive experience in both academia and clinical practice, and his leadership in professional organizations make him a valuable asset to the field of physical therapy.
